Leadership Racine Program Details

Participants meet one day per month, October through May, following a two-day orientation in September. Program focus is on Racine's local and regional economy, education, history and heritage, diversity and cultural awareness, human services, government, health care and media. In addition, small groups work on projects designed to enhance awareness of community issues, identify systems and methods to initiate change, and develop participants’ project management, team and presentation skills. The groups meet on their own time outside of monthly Leadership Racine sessions.

Commitment

Leadership Racine participants must attend every monthly session. In addition to orientation and graduation, the time commitment is eight full-day sessions. Except in truly unavoidable situations, punctuality and maintaining a presence for the entire session is required. If a personal or business emergency arises, participants must contact the program director and make up any missed sessions according to the Leadership Racine program guidelines. Participants also are required to attend two meetings of an elected public body, such as Racine City Council, Racine County Board or Racine Unified School District Board of Education.

Community Projects

In addition to the regular monthly sessions, participants commit their time to a small group community project. The amount of time needed for the development of each project is determined by small-group consensus.  Participation in small group meetings is required.

Tuition for Leadership Racine is $1,200. Typically, tuition is paid by the participant’s employer or sponsoring organization. Tuition is non-refundable.
